Bright Bites of Light

Lately, I've been drawn,
more than usual,
to the luster of light.

This lure rarely occurs
in the afternoon,

(having retired to my room),
where, shutters closed,

no light may loom
to sabotage siesta!

But when I awake,
caffeine and cookies
await, in sunlit state,

to energize and aid
a drowsy dreamer.

There is always fruit,
seasonal, and sweet.
Edible, flickering bulbs,

served cool in the summer,
a refreshing splash of a treat.

Lavished by light,
my mood lifts and takes flight,

for a smoother landing
when darkness sets in,

and brightness succumbs
to shades somber.

Thanks for visiting!

  7. I am enjoying your lovely poetry so much. Keep it coming, please! It, along with your pictures, capture the mood I feel you are in as you wake up, still drowsy, from an afternoon nap. The fruit above does seem to hold the sunshine they grew in there. The tea and cooky bringing new energy to take you through your tasks around the house until darkness falls. A story of Poppy's day. Just lovely!

  42. Poppy, I love your poetic style and your home looks lovely. I love a light filled home. It's interesting to see how it changes from early morning to late afternoon. My kitchen used to be the lightest room in my home until we covered our porch. Now the brightest room is the living room. I love your red chair!
